Who is AK Sheikh? From Ahmadiyya Office Bearer to Leader of the Revolutionary Awareness
Who is A Shaikh?
Ahmad Karim Shaikh — widely known as A.K. Shaikh — is an ex-Ahmadi who spent decades inside the Ahmadiyya Jamaat before leaving the movement and becoming one of its earliest and most persistent online critics. Today he is a regular voice on Zaitoon FM, where he discusses the internal workings of the Jamaat and the experiences of people who have left it.
AK Sheikh’s journey is one of transformation, courage, and a relentless pursuit of truth. An ex-Ahmadi, Sheikh was once deeply involved in the Ahmadiyya community, a movement he later left after decades of involvement. His story is not just about leaving an organization, but about the pursuit of knowledge and the unwavering commitment to truth, even when it challenges long-held beliefs.
Family Background in Qadian
AK Shaikh's family roots trace back to the resident families of Qadian — families established there before Mirza Ghulam Ahmad made his claims. According to Shaikh, his parents were closely aligned with the movement: his grandmother is said to have been among the group known within the Jamaat as the "313 Sahaba" of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, and his father was, by Shaikh's account, personally named by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani himself.
A Life Within the Ahmadiyya Community:
Why AK Shaikh Left Ahmadiyya
Shaikh spent more than 50 years within the Ahmadiyya community. By his account, the break didn't start as a theological crisis — it began with an administrative disagreement with the National Amir of Jamaat Ahmadiyya in Canada. That dispute pushed him to re-examine the foundation of his beliefs. He began reading the Quran directly alongside the writings of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani and, in doing so, concluded that a number of Mirza's central claims did not align with Quranic teaching. That conclusion — that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad's claims were un-Quranic — led him to leave the movement.

Beginning of A New Journey
Launching NakedAhmadi.com
After leaving, Shaikh became one of the first people to build a dedicated website addressing internal issues within the Ahmadiyya community: NakedAhmadi.com. This was in the pre-social-media era, when raising these questions publicly online was far rarer and riskier than it is today. Shaikh has said the site was later hacked and its content lost, allegedly by members of the Ahmadiyya community. He continued his advocacy afterward rather than stopping.

A Firm Stance Against False Claims
A distinguishing feature of Shaikh's criticism is his method: rather than relying on hearsay, he grounds his arguments in the books and writings of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani directly. He has publicly stated that Ahmadiyya leadership is free to sue him if they believe his claims are false — and says no such legal challenge has been brought against him to date. The Ahmadiyya community has not, to public knowledge, issued a formal response to these specific claims.
Protecting Sources and Advocating for Women's Rights
Shaikh maintains a network of contacts within the Ahmadiyya community who share information with him, and he has consistently protected their identities. Alongside his broader advocacy, he has spoken out on the treatment of women within the community, drawing attention to practices he says disproportionately affect them.
